KAMAR INUWA (Like a Shadow)
Like a shadow, that which you carry around, always.
The autumn / winter ‘22 collection is an attempt to visualise the unseen we all carry with us. Through the collection Mai Gidah researches how we can express through clothing and dressing the experiences and references we all choose or choose not to share. They’re present - “like a shadow” wether visible or not.
Extended back-panels that wrap around the shoulders, different takes on button- plackets and scarves where there should be none summarise the different techniques used to express this ephemeral concept.
Kamar Inuwa is the Hausa phrase that loosely translates as “like a shadow”.
